How TUTOR and EU Initiatives Foster Equality and Inclusion Across Europe

According to Article 14 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, everyone has the right to education and access to vocational and continuing training.

The European Union places great emphasis on multiculturalism, language acquisition, and the exchange of learners and educators.

These priorities were reaffirmed at the European Education Summit 2023, where the role of teachers and investment in high-quality educators were highlighted as crucial for Europe’s future.

The European Education Strategy ET 2030 aims to strengthen teachers’ skills, promote equal opportunities and inclusion, and reduce school dropout rates. Teachers are expected to demonstrate not only subject competence but also relationship-building skills and conflict management abilities when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues.

This is where the TUTOR project comes in. TUTOR is a European Teacher Academies project that aims to improve equal opportunities and inclusion in secondary education through teacher training that enables them to provide targeted support and individualised guidance to students. Over the next few weeks, the TUTOR partners will submit proposals for national policy recommendations, discuss them with experts and finalise them.

In a further step, the national recommendations will then be compared in roundtables with experts, discussed and condensed into European policy recommendations.
