Green Project Policy

Commitment to the SDGs

As a provider of education, training, and consultancy with a focus on developing people’s competences for the labour market and for full participation in society, and as an active EU project player, die Berater® has made a commitment to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

die Berater® is a signatory of the UN Global Compact. In doing so, we have committed ourselves to integrating the principles of UN Global Compact into our corporate strategy and day-to-day business and to participating in cooperation projects that promote the general goals of the United Nations and the SDGs in particular. Part of this commitment is the annual submission of a progress report (Communication on Progress) describing our company’s efforts to implement these goals.

As one of only a few training providers, die Berater® has been EMAS-certified for several years. Organisations that hold this certification operate a standardised environmental management system and are subject to additional monitoring mechanisms. Thus, we try to make a contribution to a cleaner environment and the protection of our climate.

Commitment to green project implementation

die Berater® as an institution as well as the team members of its department bridges to europe commit themselves to act in accordance with the principles described below in the spirit of promoting climate-friendly project implementation.

We see this commitment as a contribution to GreenComp, the European Sustainability Competence Framework. It encourages European citizens to collective action and individual initiative in acting for sustainability. This is what we seek to do in our EU projects, not only by addressing sustainability topics but also in the way we implement them.

Principles for resource-efficient meetings and events

  • We reduce the number of air travels and thus the CO2 emissions they cause:
    • We consider alternative means of public transport, such as trains, for each trip.
    • We reduce the number of face-to-face project meetings and number of participants to a necessary minimum already in the project planning phase.
    • If possible, we combine such meetings with other planned face-to-face events (e.g. training or conference).
  • We consciously consider environmental aspects in the planning of project events, such as trainings, multiplier events, meetings, and conferences: choice of format, venue, event materials, catering, waste reduction etc.
  • We provide helpful information on climate-friendly travel and accommodation to partners and participants of face-to-face events, e.g.
    • Train connections as alternatives to flights
    • Hotels (location, participation in eco certification programmes etc.)
    • Local public transport
    • Bike-sharing and e-mobility (e-bikes, scooters)

Principles for resource-efficient collaborative desk work

  • We seek to optimise file sizes to keep data volumes as small as possible to save energy.
  • We print documents only if really necessary and store them online instead, whenever possible, using joint file storage work planning and task tracking tools on project management platforms that all partners can access.

Principles for environmentally friendly behaviour in the workplace

  • We practise separate disposal of waste and transfer it to recycling systems where possible.
  • We operate intermittent, full ventilation of rooms to save heating energy.
  • When leaving the office, we switch off all electrical devices (printers, monitors, computers, etc.) to save energy.

Principles for environmentally friendly behaviour in the projects

  • We proactively make our colleagues, project partners and stakeholders aware of green project aspects.
  • We seek to stress green aspects in project proposals.
  • At project starts, we offer to facilitate an agreement process on green principles in project implementation.
  • Within our own institution, we promote sustainability aspects and orientation towards the SDGs. This includes, among other things, facilitation of internal training and relevant team workshops.

As part of our Green efforts and commitment to environment, we continuously apply sound measures and policies that are anchored in our quality assurance certification and EMAS certification.
