MOVE UP Update

MOVE UP Update

Are you wondering what exactly does the MOVE-UP project do?

To give you a little update, after months of research, dialogue with stakeholders, ALE practitioners and mothers, the MOVE UP Outreach strategy  is now being implemented in Austria, Italy, Greece and Portugal. But what is this Outreach strategy? Today you can read more about it, its main objective and the different levels of implementation: informal, formal, and social media.

The Outreach strategy enables partners to promote the aims of the project to the different stakeholders and to engage unemployed or inactive mothers with low qualifications in upskilling pathways.  We expect to involve totally 40 mothers in each country in the test implementations. The MOVE-UP project activities aim to challenge gender bias and stereotypes and help partners and stakeholders involved to challenge other biases about personal circumstances and to unravel intersecting inequalities.

Introducing the Mindset project

Introducing the Mindset project

Combating gaming disorder among youth

The MINDSET project – implemented by a consortium of 8 partners from France, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Cyprus, Portugal and Greece – aims to prepare youth organisations and youth workers to identify the early signs and prevent the development of gaming disorder among youth.

Alongside this primary goal, we will also promote active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship, but also inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport.

In 2018, gaming disorder was officially considered a mental disorder that limits social interaction and reduces the quality of skills necessary to perform them. Being a relatively new mental health issue, it’s still lacking much information on how to identify and tackle it.

Because of this, youth workers and families are unable to help young

people aected by this disorder, thus, MINDSET is focused on providing

tools, methodologies and objective ways to enable youth workers to take necessary actions to improve their services.

Considering the reality involving gaming disorder, MINDSET has the

following main objectives:

– Raise awareness about the negative eects of excessive gaming;

– Provide youth workers and youth organizations with the knowledge to recognise the signs of gaming disorder, distinguishing it from normal gaming behaviour;

– Equip youth workers with the tools to identify early signs and

prevent gaming disorder;

– Promote the development of new policies for the identication

and prevention of gaming disorder.

Launch of the MOVE UP project

Launch of the MOVE UP project

The MOVE UP project consortium held their Kick-off meeting in Perugia, Italy on February 6th and 7th 2023, marking the beginning of our exciting journey!

The MOVE UP project will develop a flexible and quality upskilling pathway for unemployed or inactive mothers with low qualifications who need/are willing to (re)access education and/or labour market, offering the opportunity of assessing, validating and further developing their prior learning, by enhancing the competences they gain because of their role of parent.

This approach offers the opportunity of discovering, assessing, recognising, possibly validating, and further developing the competences they acquired thanks to the motherhood experience, therefore mostly through informal learning and daily activities. The outcome of this process is

thus the opportunity to make value out of these competences to facilitate their participation in training and in the labour market, and as active citizens.

The focus of this path for upskilling is on the Personal, Social and Learning to learn competence (PSL), that has already proven to be an effective driver for developing other key competences for lifelong learning. They have been selected, together with the basic competences, as it includes several skills that women acquired or further develop while becoming mothers, as better adapting to change, coping with uncertainty, getting involved, managing tasks, solving problems.

The specific objectives of the MOVE UP project include the following:

  • Prototyping an innovative outreach strategy and guidance measures which can overcome gender bias and stereotypes
  • Allowing the identification and self-assessment of their Personal, Social and Learning to Learn competence (PSL)
  • Developing, testing and piloting innovative and integrated tailored learning provisions based on the individual needs for upskilling and designed accordingly to existing frameworks
  • Allowing the recognition and paving the way for validation of both PSL competence and basic competences
  • Providing a permanent framework to ALE stakeholders for setting up effective and renewed policies and provisions, thus contributing to a more gender equal labour market freed from stereotypes related to maternity role

Stay tuned for more updates on MOVE UP!
